A non-fiction piece tying together seemingly unrelated threads of the puffin’s symbolic value, interwoven with personal anecdotes, interviews, and natural history observations. The essay was awarded an honorable mention in the 2018 Carve Magazine Poetry and Prose Contest and will be published in print and online in Carve in mid-April 2019.
